2019 Tau trot recap
A letter to our participants and sponsors:
You made our day!
As I sat at my desk this morning, writing this post, I took some time to reflect on our first annual Tau Trot 5k. Both of our organizations, Alpha Sigma Tau and Phi Kappa Tau, were passionate about finding an event that would involve students, community members, and family and friends alike. We learned ALOT along the way on the ins-and-outs of putting on a 5k. There never seemed to be a dull moment in the planning process! With over 70 participants (both present and virtual) and multiple donors, we were able to raise $3,400 for our philanthropies of choice. All of the crazy planning was a success! Donations and registration fees from the event will be split in half to support Girls on the Run here in the Keweenaw and The SeriousFun Children's Network globally.
If there is one line I would relate to philanthropy it is one in which we recite in Alpha Sigma Tau every week, “I believe in the fulfillment of self and will strive to contribute my share to the progress of mankind.” Giving back is a key element in Greek life here at Michigan Tech. Whether our organizations are participating in a Polar Bear Plunge or helping the local Habitat for Humanity, it is important for us to show our university and the surrounding communities that we care.
Thank you once again for supporting our organizations and the philanthropies we support. It means the world to us!
With Gratitude,
Adeline Hummel

Thanks to our sponsors Joey's Seafood and Grill, PizzaWorks, and RoadID, our top runners were able to walk away with both a medal and gift card. Our overall winner also walked away with a gift basket from Swift True Value Hardware. Take a look at our top runners below! Race times for participants can also be noted below. (Please note that due to a last minute change in the route runners were only able to complete 2.5 miles)
